Author Ruth Leigh used to be a Girls’ Brigade community group member in Essex.

Volunteers' Week celebrates the amazing contributions volunteers make to communities across the UK and this year is the 40th anniversary of Volunteers' Week, so we thought it fitting to shine the spotlight on a couple of our GB volunteers with a very impressive 40 years of service to Girls' Brigade.

Meet Favour Boakye-Gyabaah, 50, Team Leader of Beautiful Gate GB in Birmingham.

Meet Jo Thoy, 67, Team Leader of 1st Durham and a Vice President of Girls’ Brigade England & Wales.

Meet Grace Claydon, 27, a Leader at 1st Hawkwell Girls’ Brigade and a member of the GB England & Wales Network Executive.

The Rev Gill Newton, who will be inducted as President of the Methodist Conference tomorrow, was a former GB member and is GB’s National Chaplain.

2023 marks the 39th year of Volunteers’ Week (1-7 June). We're joining thousands of charities and voluntary organisations who will be recognising the contribution volunteers make across the UK.
