Changing lives in 2024 – meet volunteer Favour

story

Meet Favour Boakye-Gyabaah, 50, Team Leader of Beautiful Gate GB in Birmingham.

Why do you volunteer for Girls’ Brigade? GB is my family and I’ve always been part of it; I grew up in GB in Ghana and I’m very passionate about what we do. It’s the least I can offer to serve my Lord Jesus and His cause. As long as I am alive, nothing can stop me from volunteering for GB.

What’s your favourite story about your time volunteering with GB? Seeing girls I supported in GB in the past becoming adults and also volunteering. One of such girls I had in Ghana is now a leader in the same group with me here, also volunteering. She has her two girls with us in the GB group too.

Does the length of time you volunteer for matter? We always need people to volunteer and if anyone can commit to a short period of time, we have to appreciate and value what they do. Of course, those who volunteer for longer periods too, should be appreciated and valued too. Either way, we need more volunteers to help transform young lives. There are many opportunities available to develop yourself and make an impact.
