Guilt and shame – equipping young people

Programme materials

The resource downloadable below has been produced to help you run a practical session with the young women you work with to help them identify and cope with difficult emotions of guilt and shame.

It’s supported by 4 video clips of GB’s President Rachel Gardner and GB’s Mission and Advocacy Enabler Dr. Claire Rushequipping you to run the session and related to each section of the resource.

In video clip 1 Rachel looks at understanding the difference between guilt and shame.

In video clip 2, Claire looks at engaging young people with an exploration of shame culture and how it uniquely impacts girls in the UK.

In video clip 3, Rachel looks at helping young people understand how shame can impact them, the difference that knowing Jesus can make and practical strategies to deal with difficult emotions.

In video clip 4, Rachel looks at helping young people celebrate their God-given worth.

There are also 3 accompanying shame stories video clips – you can show these to your teenagers to introduce the theme as a discussion starter or use them when specified in the resource.

These resources can be used with a resource to equip leaders on the same issue.
