Message for leaders

We’re all in a strange new world right now but GB still wants to provide hope and fun for all children and young people.

[email protected] is a free weekly resource of activities for the 4 age groups we work with to do at home – but suitable for anyone not just GB members.

A new set of [email protected] materials will launch every week until further notice and you will see it overlaps with our current programme materials.

You can share these with your GB members in a variety of ways, such as:

  • Emailing or posting the relevant programme sheet to parents of children in that age group or sending them the link to this website
  • Putting the sheet on your website or social media streams, in whole or in parts, for parents to access or sharing the link to this website
  • Host an online GB meeting using Zoom, free to download video conferencing, by emailing the parents a link to the call. Ensure you have more than 1 leader on the call to meet safeguarding requirements. A formal risk assessment for online activities should be undertaken.
  • Reach out into your community by sharing these resources with the wider public e.g. through a community Facebook page.

There is even a free downloadable certificate template to mark children and young people’s achievements that you can share too.

And we have also produced a Stay Connected sheet of ideas for keeping in touch with the children and young people you work with when you can’t physically meet.

Encourage parents to send/email/post direct photos of their children using the [email protected] materials for you to share on your church or GB website/emails/social media to encourage a two-way conversation. Make sure you have photo consent for sharing these.

Safeguarding
Just because we’re in an unprecedented situation doesn’t mean we can forget about safeguarding! It’s important to remember that you can’t communicate with children and young people directly and always contact their parents/carers. See our Life to the Full policy for more guidance.

If you’re using online video call software, such as Zoom, then please make sure you take additional precautions for safe calls, such as:

  • Make use of the password and waiting room functions so your calls are only between you and the people you invite and not random ‘Zoom bombers’
  • Ensure you have more than 2 leaders on a call and that they’re logged on and set up in advance of the children and young people joining the call
  • As 13s and over may have access to their own Zoom/video conference accounts make sure you still gain parental consent for them joining the call – this could be as simple as an email from a parent
  • Think about what can be seen in the background of your call and ensure that you/anyone likely to appear in the background is appropriately dressed
  • A formal risk assessment for online activities should be undertaken
  • Keep a record of who attends your virtual sessions, like you would in ‘real’ life.

Message for parents

[email protected] is a free weekly resource of activities for the 4 age groups we work with to do at home – but suitable for anyone, not just GB members. A new set of [email protected] materials will launch every week until further notice.

There are 4 sheets aimed at different ages and by following these links you can find out more about how each of GB’s age-specific programmes work:

You can work through the sheet with your child encouraging them do as much or as little of it as you want in one sitting or over the week, until the next resource is released.

Check back next Thursday to download the next resource pages.

There is even a free downloadable certificate template to mark children and young people’s achievements that you can share too.

GB Ministries accepts no responsibility for any injuries young people sustain whilst undertaking these activities within their own homes. Parents/carers should ensure the safety of their home environment when undertaking activities.
