Preparing for the coronation

news

The coronation of King Charles III is fast approaching and this article shares some of what we're preparing ready for the big event!

Fit for a King

You can now download GB’s coronation resource, called Fit for a King, packed full of exciting activities for you to do in your groups.

The resource is designed as a single session suitable for all age groups – just pick and mix the activities that best suit your group’s members/leaders, the time available and the equipment you have.

The resource looks at the coronation of King Charles on 6 May 2023, and also considers how, although King Charles is our earthly king, Jesus is the king of kings.

Activities have been loosely grouped into four areas:

  • Set the scene – explaining more about King Charles, the Coronation and the Royal Family
  • Get active – games to play
  • Get crafty – things to make
  • Going deeper – looking at how Jesus is the king of kings.

You may wish to give your GB meeting a party theme by incorporating some of these ideas into a street party – waving flags and having a party tea – or by getting your children and young people to come in their party clothes or wearing red, white and blue outfits. You could even download the official Coronation Playlist, by DCMS, from Spotify!
