Preparing for leaving lockdown

news

As lockdown measures start to ease we’re working with the other uniformed youth organisations and the National Youth Agency government body to understand what a safe return to face-to-face GB community groups may look like.

Here at the GB Support Centre we continue to closely monitor the Coronavirus pandemic situation and the related Government guidance.

Back in March, we closed all GB groups temporarily and all face-to-face meetings and events were cancelled until further notice. Then in May we decided that this ceasing of all face-to-face activity, including camps and Residential Events, will continue until at least September, at the earliest, and even then will depend on Government and Church regulations.

As lockdown measures start to ease we’re working with the other uniformed youth organisations and the National Youth Agency government body to understand what a safe return to face-to-face GB community groups may look like.

We’re busy planning behind the scenes, despite a limited staff team, to ensure that a return to our face-to-face work will keep our members safe and give parents/carers confidence in our measures. It will outline the permissions process for restarting any face-to-face activity and look at the key considerations groups need to be ready for.

We’ll be giving Council Reps attending our Zoom Summer Conference on 4 July an overview of this guidance and hope to release it in mid-July, allowing leaders plenty of time to plan for when the restrictions lift.

If you’re a GB community group leader, thank you for all you’re doing to keep in touch with your GB members during this period, both online and offline.
