Planting apple trees at 1st Hurstpierpoint

news

Four girls from 1st Hurstpierpoint spent a Saturday morning planting four apple trees in a local apple orchard.

Team Leader Margaret Taylor says, ‘They thoroughly enjoyed listening to the merits of growing and eating apples and were surprised to learn that one variety planted by them came from a pip in apple core thrown into a hedgerow along a nearby main road, this apple has been named Hurstpierpoint Pippin.’

The girls had a wonderful time and will be able to visit the orchard to see how their trees are growing over many years to come.
