Meet our Youth President and Youth Ambassadors!

news

We recently heard from Eloise Dale, our Youth President, and Mollie Maliqi and Liv Hurley, our Youth Ambassadors, to find out what they are excited about in their roles!

In summer 2025, Girls' Brigade called girls and young women aged 14 to 24 to represent us as ambassadors. Opportunities like this are fantastic for nurturing confidence and leadership skills in young women.

Emily Brailsford, our Trustee Board Chair, stated

'When I was younger I definitely did not consider myself a leader, but my life and faith has put me here. I am so excited about what this role will bring to Girls' Brigade and the opportunities it will open up for our members. It's a chance to really make a difference to the organisation that we love and also to the lives of girls and young women in today's society.'

We are delighted to introduce our Youth President and Youth Ambassadors!

Eloise Dale - Youth President

Why are you excited to be in this role?

I am excited to be in this role because it can be a strong driver for change and a chance to advocate for the voices of our young people on topics they believe to be real and prevalent to them right now.

I am also passionate about recognising that every young persons journey is different. This role allows me to advocate for inclusivity and understanding, especially for those voices who may find it harder to speak up.

Most importantly, I’m excited about the long term impact. By investing in our young people right now, we are shaping confident and compassionate leaders for the future.

Being part of that journey, I find incredibly meaningful.

Why is Girls' Brigade important to you?

Girls' Brigade has been a big part of my life for a long time. I joined when I was 8 and have stayed ever since. Girls' Brigade was a place I felt comfortable and accepted. I was able to develop lifelong skills and grow through faith.

As a girl I looked up to my leaders but now as a leader, I look up to the girls. I see each and every girl as the inspiring individual they are and I also see their great potentials too. We believe in them when they may struggle to believe in themselves. Celebrating the small wins of a good week at school, the big wins of accomplishing something they’ve been working towards for a while and everything in between.

Seeing their smiling faces come through the door each week, developing strong and trusting relationships and knowing the girls I work with feel safe enough to be the authentic person they are. The person they may cover up in other places to ‘fit in’. Knowing we give them a place of belonging, safety and happiness and being a part of their long term development -  it’s what I love!

Mollie Maliqi - Youth Ambassador

Why are you excited to be in your Youth Ambassador role?

I’m really excited to be in this role because it gives me the opportunity to raise awareness about something that is so real and so often overlooked. Through the Healing Her Voice campaign, we’re not just talking about mental wellbeing, we’re helping girls understand how their experiences and the world around them shape how they see themselves. That awareness is powerful.

What excites me most is being able to turn that awareness into action. The badge gives girls a space to explore these issues, find their voice, and use it to support others. Knowing that we can help even one girl feel more confident, more understood, or less alone, that’s what makes this role so meaningful to me.

Why is Girls’ Brigade important to you?

Girls’ Brigade is important to me because it has always been more than just a group, it’s been a place where I feel safe, supported, and genuinely known. It’s like a family.

It’s somewhere I’ve been able to grow in confidence, especially in moments where I’ve felt unsure of myself. You’re not judged, you’re encouraged, listened to, and reminded that you matter.

That sense of belonging is so important, and it’s a big part of why I care so much about this campaign. Every girl deserves a space where she feels accepted and valued, and for me, Girls’ Brigade has been exactly that.

Olivia Hurley - Youth Ambassador

Why are you excited to be in your Youth Ambassador role?

I am excited for this role as I truly believe that with Mollie and Eloise we can inspire young girls within the Girls' Brigade and also encourage many more girls to join. I believe that with our campaign we can ensure that the voices of the girls within the brigade are heard and listened to and also create safe spaces for not only the girls, but the leaders too.

I am excited for this role as our campaign has the opportunity to improve girls and leaders experiences at Girls' Brigade and we can raise awareness about the importance of young girls mental health.

Why is Girls' Brigade important to you?

Girls' Brigade is important to me as I have been a part of it my whole life. It has played such a big part in my life as I have grown up in it and made countless memories but also met some of my best friends. I truly believe that in this role we can encourage other young girls to gain these experiences too. I am excited for the opportunity of our campaign and I can’t wait to see what this role will entail.
