Grant funding to boost work with 13-18s

news

GB is now working on tranche 2 of a grant from the Uniformed Youth Fund to offer 300 places for 13-18-year-olds.

The money, from the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) is to help 100 groups, in specific areas of deprivation, boost the number of members in their n:counta and n:spire sections between February 2023 and March 2025.

We’ll be working with 1 of 6 geographical areas at a time, over 3 to 6 months per area, and will soon be contacting eligible groups in the first area with more details to see if they want to be involved in growing their groups.

The geographical areas will be London and the South East; the North East; the South West; the Midlands; the North West; and Yorkshire.

Eligible groups will benefit from a contribution towards the fees of new members and a discount on their uniform, as well as a national Facebook advertising campaign, support with recruitment activities, and more.

As with tranche 1, which you can read more about here, some of the grant money in tranche 2 will also go towards initiatives that will help all our groups and contribute towards our 2027 strategy. This includes GB hiring a PR agency to shout about our work and working with Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) specialists. This EDI work will then contribute to our planned programme materials refresh.
