The pair walked an additional 100 miles on top of their usual routines to raise funds for Girls’ Brigade England and Wales, helping the organisation continue the vital role it plays in supporting young people in today’s society.
Both Anne and Abbie know first-hand just how important this funding is, having started in Girls’ Brigade as young members themselves and remaining dedicated ever since. This challenge is particularly special as it marks Anne’s 50th year in Girls’ Brigade — and what better way to celebrate such an amazing milestone than by clocking up even more miles!
Throughout the month, they explored their local communities on foot and even enjoyed a weekend walking in London. Along the way, they experienced all types of weather — from hail to sunshine — but nothing stopped them from completing their challenge. They also met many friendly people, and sparked plenty of smiles and laughter as they shared what they were doing — with more than a few people joking that they must be mad!
Impressively, they finished a day early, ending on a high by spending their final two days walking alongside the young people they support each week.
