Emily Brailsford Appointed as new Trustee Board Chair

Emily Brailsford, National Programme Manager at Mothers’ Union, has been appointed as Trustee Board Chair at Girls’ Brigade England and Wales.

On Saturday 5 July, the appointment was announced by GBEW CEO Judith Davey-Cole. Judith states ‘We are proud to welcome Emily as the Girls’ Brigade Trustee Board Chair. As a passionate advocate for empowering girls and women, Emily brings a wealth of experience and dedication to the mission of The Girls’ Brigade. We look forward to her guidance as we continue to inspire the next generation of confident, capable young women.’

Girls’ Brigade England and Wales is a charity that offers support to girls and young women through uniformed youth group meetings and programmes for ages 4-18. The charity offers fun and informative activities and opportunities to girls in order to grow into confident women, whilst engaging and exploring their Christian faith.

Emily has a long history of volunteering and is passionate about supporting young people in understanding and navigating the world today. She is a strong advocate for equipping children with the necessary skills to be safe on social media, and strives to do more work in combatting bullying and its detrimental effects. Emily has extensive experience in working alongside the Church at MU, carrying out vital work to combat domestic abuse and modern slavery. She is a committed Christian, Lay Reader in the Diocese of Derby and a Canon at Derby Cathedral.

As chair of the trustee board, Emily will ensure that GBEW functions effectively in their mission to help girls and young women develop life skills in a safe space, with a focus on Christian values.
