Celebrating GB members across the country

news

We love to celebrate the successes of our members, and when the end of the GB year comes around in July, many groups take part in awards evenings and celebration events.

At 2nd Bath’s awards evening, the Mayor attended to present the awards. There was a great turnout of girls and their parents and there was lots to celebrate.

1st South Wigston had an awards evening with the theme of ‘celebration’ to round off a session celebrating the Queen’s Jubilee, mourning her passing and then celebrating the Coronation. ‘Special guests’ (cutouts of Queen Elizabeth and King Charles) returned for a photo opportunity for the occasion. The group also took the opportunity to celebrate three of their leaders and all they’ve contributed to the group as they move on from GB.

A completely different theme was used at 26th Liverpool as they presented a Eurovision-themed display and awards night. The night opened with the n:gage group welcoming everyone with a poem, followed by all groups performing to previous UK entries and songs from around the world. The n:gage group also showed off their design skills! They also performed a tribute to Ukraine through colour and finished the evening by singing Love Shine A Light.

1st Newport Pagnell said goodbye to leader Linda Row who has been volunteering at the group for over 50 years! As a present, she received a photo of the group from their recent BAFTAs event.

The group also received a letter from King Charles, thanking them for a sympathy card the group sent to the Royal Family on the death of Queen Elizabeth. We know lots of groups received letters of thanks for their messages and cards on the occasion, we hope that everyone was thrilled to get a response.
