Afternoon tea at Number 10

news

Two GB members yesterday attended a Big Afternoon Tea at 10 Downing Street in honour of Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee.

They were selected to attend because of the impact they’ve made outside of GB. Rebekah, from 2nd Leigh Park GB group, donated her hair to the Little Princess Trust raising more than £800 for the charity and Tilly, from 1st Kendal, raised £180 for a local hospice by knitting little hats and selling them to her friends and family. They were chaperoned by Growing GB Development Officer Carol Lowries.

Hosted by Culture Secretary Nadine Dorries and Sports Minister Nigel Huddleston, other event attendees included young people from other uniformed youth organisations, school children, recipients of the Points of Light Award, Commonwealth athletes, and representatives of Age UK.

Growing GB Development Officer Carol says ‘Rebekah and Tilly were brilliant and did a great job representing GB at this event.’
