We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help us launch new Girls’ Brigade groups in Andover, Odiham and Carterton.
These communities have been chosen as part of our Military Families Project because of their strong connections with the Armed Forces. However, the new Girls’ Brigade groups will be open to girls from across the whole local community – you do not need to be part of a military family to join or volunteer. We want to create welcoming, supportive groups where girls can make friends, have fun, try new things and grow in confidence – and we need local people to help us make that happen.
Why Andover, Odiham and Carterton?
We are working with the Methodist Forces Board to develop new groups in communities with a significant military presence. We know that communities around military bases can be particularly changeable, with families arriving, moving away and forming new connections. Creating strong local networks and places where children and families can feel part of their community can make a real difference. That is why we are initially focusing on Andover, Odiham and Carterton – the groups will be rooted in these communities and welcoming to all girls aged 4 to 17, whether they come from a military family or have no connection with the Armed Forces at all.
What is Girls’ Brigade?
Girls’ Brigade is a Christian youth organisation that has been helping girls and young women develop confidence, friendships and life skills for generations.
Our groups give girls the opportunity to:
- Make new friends and feel part of a community
- Have fun and try new activities
- Grow in confidence and resilience
- Discover and develop their skills and talents
- Explore faith and the spiritual side of life
- Learn to support and respect others
- Be themselves in a safe and welcoming environment

We need people like you
You don’t need to have been in Girls’ Brigade before to make a difference. We are looking for local people who want to help create something positive for girls and young women in their community. Whether you have experience working with children and young people, are already involved in your local community or church, have a connection with the Armed Forces, or simply want to give some of your time to something worthwhile, we would love to hear from you.

Encourage girls to try new things, recognise their strengths and believe in themselves.

Help deliver activities and experiences that are fun, engaging and relevant to girls today.
